Numeracy Day - Symmetry

26th Nov 2025

Our Primary 2 and Primary 3 pupils had a fantastic time exploring the wonderful world of symmetry through various hands-on activities! They used numicon to create symmetrical shapes, painted beautiful butterflies with matching wings, decorated gingerbread men, and used mirrors to discover lines of symmetry in objects all around them. These practical maths lessons are vital for their development as they move beyond abstract numbers and see how maths operates in everyday life. By actively engaging with these concepts, the children are building strong foundational skills, developing their problem-solving abilities, and growing into confident, enthusiastic learners, all while enjoying the excitement of shapes and patterns!
